Eco-School

Welcome to our digital Eco-board!

At Greenford School, we care deeply about environmental issues and have a strong desire to actively protect our planet.  Therefore, this year we decided to apply for Eco-Schools accreditation.

The Eco-Schools programme provides a simple, seven-step framework which empowers young people to make a difference in their school, local community and beyond.   By the end of the year, we hope to be recognised for the the Eco-School Committee's efforts with a prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag!

After completing an environmental survey of our school, the Eco-school committee have decided to focus on the three areas of Water, Energy and Marine this year, as these were the three areas that Greenford scored lowest on during our survey.

Our Eco-Schools Action Plan 2023-4

After conducting our school environmental survey, the Eco-School committee members worked together to create an action plan for this year.

So far this year, we have elected energy monitors for each classroom (to ensure we turn off un-used electrical appliances when we are not in our classrooms), had a whole school focus on 'Water day' to raise awareness about saving water and marine plastic pollution.    This involved having workshops from our local water supplier, Wessex water, and an online zoom session from the charity Wateraid.  During our 'Water day' we also raised an amazing £242.24 to send to Wateraid!  Many families have also taken part in beach cleans - one resulted in a child writing a letter to our local MP and petition asking for bins that can be used to recycle plastic to be available at our local beaches!

Greenford's Eco-School Action Plan 2023-4

After a suggestion in our school, 'Suggestion Box', we are now trying to use more Fair trade produce in school.

Greenford's Eco-School events 2023-4
