Greenford Garden

Greenford Garden is a growing space where children can explore nature, learn new skills, and discover the joy of looking after the world around them. From planting seeds to caring for wildlife, our pupils will experience hands‑on learning that nurtures curiosity, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. The garden is a place for muddy boots, fresh air, and the excitement of watching something flourish through care and patience.

This project is rooted in community spirit. Staff, pupils, and families are working together to create a vibrant outdoor learning environment that will evolve throughout the year. As the garden develops, this page will share updates, photos, and stories from our young gardeners. We look forward to watching Greenford Garden grow — and to growing alongside it.

RHS School Garden Awards

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm shown by our pupils, staff and volunteers in helping our garden flourish. This commitment has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society through its School Gardening Awards programme, and we are delighted to announce that we have now achieved Level 5 – the highest award possible.

Reaching Level 5 is a fantastic achievement and reflects the wide range of gardening, environmental and outdoor learning opportunities that have taken place across the school. Our garden continues to be a thriving space where children can learn, explore and develop a love of nature.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this success and look forward to continuing to grow and develop our wonderful garden for future generations of pupils.

Our Composting Mission – Meet the Little Rotters

Our composting project is led by the Little Rotters — a team of motivated pupils who help us turn food scraps and garden waste into rich, healthy compost. They have learnt that even the smallest peel, leaf, or crumb can be transformed into something useful.

With the help of the Little Rotters, pupils learn:

what can and can’t go into the compost
how worms and mini‑beasts break things down
why compost helps our plants grow strong
how reducing waste helps our planet

Twice a week, The Little Rotters, empty the compost caddies, weigh and chop the fruit and veg waste, mix in "brown" waste turn the compost tumblers. The Little Rotters help make our school greener, cleaner, and more sustainable.
